Thank you from Chief William Dunn
Last night the Glen Echo Volunteer Fire Department began our annual tradition of bringing Santa to various neighborhoods in our area. I participated in this event last night and I can’t thank everyone enough for coming out to greet us with HUGE smiles, big waves, and nothing but happiness. I know the last several months have been challenging for everyone, including those of us who are first responders. At the GEFD, we want to help bring joy and happiness every night by bringing Santa to visit each neighborhood. All of us in the fire department look forward to this tradition every year.
But last night’s Santa run was different than any other year for me. Last night, you all helped us. Seeing the kids waving at Santa while running out of their houses with elation; people waving from inside their homes and flickering their porch lights; many folks cheering and clapping from their driveways; people shouting “Happy Holidays!” and “Thank You!” from their lawns; the pure happiness that everyone showed us last night brought tears to my eyes several times. All of you in the Glen Echo community lifted our spirits last night in ways that you can’t imagine. Our community brought smiles and joy to many of us that needed a little cheer and comfort. For that, I want to say, “Thank You”!
I wish all of a you a safe, happy, and healthy Holiday Season.
